To be oneself fully is like doing what you love like no one is watching.
Driven by her passion for individualism and guided by intuition and love, Alexa Fox inspires and leads women on a journey of self-expression and self-discovery through dancing.
Meet Alexa Fox
Trainer at and founder of Women In The Rhythm. Intuitive dance improviser, dance trainer/coach, performer, busy mum, educator, actor, personal transformation and health/fitness enthusiast, holiday lover, information transmitter, people to people connector and mentor, a lady with a thousand questions and genuine interest in people's stories... now embracing her early 40s.
The seeds were sawn...
Alexa was born in Hungary to a dance and music loving mother and a DJ / guitarist father, when the parents were already separated. Their struggles meant a controlled childhood. Due to relocations, Alexa felt segregated a lot, missing out on many activities. With continued interest in dancing she joined a hip-hop group as a teenager, which gave a sense of belonging and purpose in her life, a way of being seen and enjoying personal achievements in the form of performances and team-spirit.
Alexa couldn't spend as much time at the practices as she wanted, because there was always a bus to catch to go home. Dancing at home was seen as and felt like a useless activity,
Alexa realised that dancing made her travel to other places, be lost in time, it ignited her imagination and creativity. It felt very reviving, energising, uplifting, even though to others it seemed like a waste of time.
Alexa also often felt unsupported in her expressivity and emotions.
This is when she learnt that the thoughts she was thinking were only hers and cannot be controlled by others. That became the catalyst for Alexa's individualism. The pursuit of freedom and belonging to a friendship circle meant more music and more dancing with her team.
When Alexa entered her early motherhood years, she simply just missed and wanted to dance, freely, in her own style, for fun and for exercise, somewhere... with like-minded others. Being a mum of two little children limits the options, and there was not much on offer near her. This was the final catalyst of creating WITR's space, atmosphere and structure.
