Not at all. Women In The Rhythm is designed for everyday women — whether you’ve danced your whole life, haven’t danced in years, or never danced before. There’s no pressure to “look good” or get anything right.
Absolutely. Beginners are very welcome. Much much welcome. Please do come along!
Oh, most of us do at times :) Mainly when starting out, and that’s completely normal. You’re welcome to simply observe and follow along or ease into movement in your own style and at your own pace. Copying is welcome, and confidence usually grows naturally over time. This energy comes and goes.
Both — but it feels more like dancing than working out, due to the carefully planned playlist, great rhythm and fun. Many women are surprised how much movement and energy they naturally build up during the session.
No, it is not a therapy service or clinical treatment. However, many women experience stress release, emotional shifts, confidence boosts and a stronger sense of connection to themselves through music, rhythm and movement.
No, it is your choice. Our space is designed to feel welcoming without pressure. Some women love connecting and chatting, while others simply want to arrive, dance and enjoy the experience quietly.
No, there isn't. These are guided freestyle dance sessions, not choreography classes. You’ll be guided through rhythm, energy and movement ideas, but there are no routines to memorise or perfect.
That’s completely welcome. Following is often how women begin feeling comfortable before gradually expressing themselves more freely.
Anything comfortable that you can move freely in. Most women wear activewear, casual fitness clothes, or relaxed dance-friendly outfits. Shoes with non-slip soles that are comfortable for dancing for an hour. Just bring water, comfortable clothes, a hand towel if you like, and an openness to move your own way.
Sessions include a mix of uplifting, rhythmic, nostalgic, expressive, sensual, energetic and party-style music across different genres from different eras. Music and energy levels change throughout the session to create different moods and experiences.
Women of different ages are welcome (18+). Sessions are designed more around openness and energy than age or dance ability.
Not quite, but it definitely carries some daytime disco energy 😊
Depending on the music and flow of the session, it can feel at times like:
The atmosphere is designed to feel expressive, supportive, energising and women-focused, without the pressure to perform.
No. The facilitator acts as a guide and reference point, not someone you must copy perfectly. Over time, many women naturally begin responding to the music in their own way.
Most sessions run for approximately 50 minutes.
Women In The Rhythm is currently planning to reopen sessions across the Moggill, Kenmore, Chapel Hill, Indooroopilly, Jindalee, Sinnamon Park, and surrounding areas.
We’d genuinely love your input.

The music is intentionally immersive — loud enough to help you switch off overthinking and fully drop into the rhythm. Background-level music wouldn’t create the same experience. The volume is lower than a nightclub, but you would still need to lean closer to chat with another dancer. If you are sensitive to sound, noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs may help (you’re also welcome to borrow a pair from Alexa when available).
Your wellbeing matters. If you feel unwell or need a break at any time, there will be chairs available to sit and rest, water available and basic first aid supplies if needed. Sessions are designed so participants can continue moving naturally while Alexa becomes your support provider where required. All attendees complete a pre-session form including emergency contact / next of kin details. The facilitator is first aid and CPR trained.
Women In The Rhythm is designed as a gentle-to-energetic guided freestyle dance experience, and all movement is done at your own pace and comfort level.
If you have any pre-existing injuries, medical conditions, dizziness, breathing concerns, chronic pain, pregnancy, or anything else that may affect your participation, please consult your healthcare professional if unsure before attending.
You are always encouraged to:
There is no pressure to keep up or perform.
By attending, participants acknowledge responsibility for listening to their own body and participating within their personal limits.
For safety reasons, water bottles and other liquids are kept away from the dance floor area to help prevent slips and injuries. You’re welcome to leave your drink near your belongings and access it whenever needed.
Alexa holds a valid Blue Card. Teenagers aged 14–18 are welcome to attend with a parent or carer present for their first session. After that, they may attend independently with a signed parent/carer consent form. Most attendees are women aged 30+.
There’s no formal dance teaching or choreography to memorise, however, it’s very common to naturally pick up movements and combinations throughout the session 😉 Sometimes, when the guide notices women enjoying or following certain movements, she may intentionally repeat them to help dancers settle into the rhythm and enjoy the flow more fully.
